  Thomas, a Private in the 14th Foot, arrived with the regiment on the <i>Wexford</i> at Madras on 31 December 1807. With him was his wife, Hannah, and their three children. They then sailed to Calcutta on the <i>Northampton</i> in March 1808 arriving on the 17th. Four days after they arrived in Calcutta, baby Catherine died. In October of the same year, his wife Hannah died, followed a year later by baby John. Thomas lived on for 6 years with his daughter Elizabeth. When he died in 1814 she was the only family survivor. Elizabeth Jump married Joseph Moore when she was 14 years old. [From notes provided by Beth le Page]
