About Our Kindred

Our Kindred begins with the histories of the Taylor, Hallam, Robinson and Chadwick families, but its purpose is broader than the recording of a family tree. Through family narratives, historical articles, photographs, documents, oral histories and research guides, the site explores the places, occupations, migrations and social worlds in which earlier generations lived. It is intended both for members of the families and for anyone interested in family history and the recovery of ordinary lives from the historical record.

The research is continuing. Some stories are well documented, while others remain incomplete or uncertain and may be revised as new evidence is found. Information about living people is kept private.
